Spotlight - Gurney Journey: Questions About Black

This month, Spotlight takes a look at James Gurney's 4-part article, 'Questions About Black', in which James... answers questions about black (well, it was never really going to be anything else, was it?).
Part 1 covers using black to darken a colour, part 2 covers mixing your own black, part 3 covers using black in paintings, and part 4 asks if black is a colour.

Shropshire Hills Art Week

This comes courtesy of Jules McRobbie:

New Shropshire Hills Art Week – ARTISTS WANTED!

Artists and makers throughout the region will join together to promote the creative arts and the beauty of the local landscape. Artists are needed now for the first Shropshire Hills Art Week from 31 May – 8 June 2014.

Do you paint wonderful landscapes, create beautiful jewellery, build stunning pots, carve magnificent stone sculptures, weave interesting wall hangings, blow fabulous glass, or make comfortable furniture? Are you a designer maker in the Shropshire Hills? If so, Shropshire Hills Art Week wants you!

The Shropshire Hills Art Week (SHAW) is a new art organisation created to encourage artists and makers to open their studios for an art week in early June 2014. We are seeking artists to sign up, join in and get involved! Works inspired by landscape and wildlife are encouraged, to showcase this stunning area.

The Director, Jules McRobbie, wants to build a real community among Shropshire Hills artists. A website will contain artist profiles, an online gallery, helpful business tips for artists, regular newsletters, and guidelines on getting the most out of art week. This will allow artists to share their creative vision with potential buyers, maximise each artist’s exposure, and increase visitors to the Shropshire Hills using art as the magnet to draw people here to walk, cycle, eat, swim in lakes and rivers, and share our lovely landscape.

Why not sign up, join in and get involved now!
