This month, Spotlight's taking a look at a Golden Age illustrator who's not so well known in Britain. His masterful brush-strokes are unmistakable, and over at Joe's Art Blog, run by illustrator and graphic designer Joe Winkler, there's a 6-part series of articles on JC Leyendecker:

Summer Exhibition 2013!
MEMBERS' SUMMER EXHIBITION
17th - 26th August 2013
at The Harley Centre, Castle Square, Ludlow
10.00am to 5.00pm daily.
Well, the weather's been fanta - ... oh, never mind. Our second show of the year has begun! Local writer Peter Burden (www.peterburden.net) opened the show, which had the usual mix of media and subjects, a board of art from the SmArt kids, and a particularly impressive craft table. This year, three awards were also handed out at the private view - Peter chose his 'Judge's Choice' (Keith Noble's St Mary's College, Oxford, Rain), and there were also selections from the Silk Top Hat Gallery (Wilfred Langford's Road to Bromlow Callow) and from the Ludlow Brewing Company (John Hawkings' Stoke St Milborough).
Here are some photos from the opening evening:

Above Boards Paint Jam
2 days of music and painting outside the Boar's Head in Kidderminster! A host of artists descended on the area, including LAS members Lesley Connolly and I who were invited over to paint some boards!
We're hoping to have Mike, a former tutor at Kidderminster College, come along and give us a talk on stencil cutting and spray painting early in the new year.
It was a fantastic event, with another, smaller jam scheduled for later on this year.

Plein Air at Bromfield
For our last scheduled plein air of the year, six of us went out around Bromfield Weir and the Food Centre, and the weather held beautifully for us!
Here are some shots from the morning:
We'd love to see more of you when we gear up for next year's outings - all are welcome to join, whether you paint or draw. It's great fun!
