Spotlight: Temple of the Seven Golden Camels, and Bob Kirk's Tutorials

In the second "Spotlight" post, we've got two links again! You're spoiled rotten...

First up, the oddly named Temple of the Seven Golden Camels, by Disney artist Mark Kennedy - here you'll find a blog about filmmaking and storyboarding, covering quick sketches, anatomy (animals as well as people), the idea of complex vs detailed, and using as reference everything from classical paintings through to modern comic panels.

Here's the link:

Next up, Bob Kirk, former Chairman of the LAS, has on his website a page of tutorials covering mostly birds and landscapes.

Here's the link:

If you know any great art websites or articles, why not share them here? Send your suggestions to - please note that this isn't for self-promotion

We made it in...

... and a stunning 23 seconds it was!

If you caught it, you can see why we couldn't paint in the exact spot Nicholas Crane's aunt painted her picture.

Nicely done, everyone!

Town with Nicholas Crane

On tonight, BBC 2, 9pm, the first episode of Town features Ludlow. A few months ago the film crew asked a group of artists from the LAS to come and paint up on Whitcliffe, so you may catch a glimpse of us (hopefully we didn't end up on the cutting room floor)!
